Andean Highland

Cities full of history, art and cultural activities.
In 1978, the UNESCO declared Quito a “Humanity Cultural Patrimony”. Quito was the first city in the world to receive such an honor. The center city in Quito is the biggest and better preserved in the entire Latin America.
Cuenca, also declared a “Humanity Cultural Patrimony”, has a special republican architecture that harmonizes with its landscapes.
The 13 different indigenous nationalities that exist in Ecuador, with different languages, myths, rituals, legends, dances, food, dresses, traditions and songs are a living proof of our cultural richness.

Central Andes
• Few areas in the world offer as much cultural and natural diversity: snow-capped mountains, active volcanoes, bubbling hot springs surrounded by lush green grassy paramos.
• Humid cloudy forests and fertile valleys.
• See for yourself why the Andean region is the most visited place on the mainland.
• A plethora of national parks featuring a stunning variety of flora and fauna protect these precious highlands: the Cotopaxi National Park, the Cotacachi-Cayapas, Ecological Reserve, Antisana, Chimborazo, Mindo–Nambillo and Pasochoa.
